TEXT: 5 years ago, I wondered how adults could not know the names and artists of the most popular songs at the time. I mean, these songs were everywhere! How could you not know them??? Yesterday, I realized I didn’t know the names of half the artists on the radio. “Oh, that’s how,” I said.

IT’S SO TRUE.

Mitt Romney is a liar. Here is your proof. This video stands alone as evidence. If not a “liar”, than he at least has no trouble lying. Even if you wanted to say, “Oh, he’s not a liar, he just didn’t do his research.” is that really an excuse for misleading so many people? I think not.

Watch this ketchup completely leave the bottle and be amazed!!

Some MIT braniacs have devised a way to make me use ketchup again. Wicked.

My only problem is that they call their discovery/invention “LiquiGlide”, which sounds more like a personal lubricant than a supplemental food product. Gross.

Hello, My name is Jason. I have a weekly technology news online radio show. I am a Nanotechnology and Biotechnology editor at Zeitnews.org. I sing and play guitar in The Edifice Complex.

I promote the advancement of technology for the betterment of all human beings and the planet. I…

Jason is a close friend of mine from waaay back. Notice I used three “A”s, that’s how you know that I mean it. Think junior high school. Anyway, these days he’s quite busy with lots of things, most of which I enjoy. I won’t say which I don’t enjoy, that’s for you to find out.

Jokes aside, he’s a talented mind and I think you’d enjoy some of his ideas. Welcome to Tumblr, FeignedCreativity.

…

I like the idea, though, of me being a lot of mes, billions of mes, and of not being an island, a separate thing from the incorrectly termed Outside World. I am the environment, not just in it. It flows through me and in me and out of me.

That’s cool, huh?

This is a beautiful idea to me. AND ties in to my “science and religion are wholly intertwined” philosophy.

My friend Jason of FeignedCreativity.blogspot.com had this brilliant nugget to add to the convo:

One of the major problems with our current state is that we have separated ourselves from nature, made a barrier where there is none. This is due in large part to Christianity moving spirituality from nature and moving it to some unearthly plain far removed from the trees and water.

This false duality has led to a society that doesn’t make a connection between pollution, resource depletion, GMOs, Trans-fat, and obesity, cancer rates, and cardiovascular disease.

We are so ignorant as to think we can destroy the world and still live in it. The bible says man has dominion over the earth, right? It’s actually the other way around.

I agree. Also, on the other side, there is arrogance. Man’s arrogance in believing he can destroy the Earth. If we pollute the hell out of everything and the sea levels rise ten feet, and millions of species die off (including us, most likely), the Earth will still be here. New species will evolve and we will be but a memory, like the dinosaurs. Once before in our planetary history there was a great die-off. 95% of all living things died. Now look. We can only change the world, not kill it. Even if we continue to pump CO2 in the air, things will only change. There was a time on this planet when there was no ice, none. Palm trees grew near the poles and swamps and water were everywhere.

Our disconnect and disregard for nature will only harm ourselves in the end.

Very well stated. All the environmental protection we’re trying to put into place isn’t about a bunch of “tree hugging hippies”. It’s just practical. And people fighting these regulations seem like a metaphor for “cutting off your nose to spite your face”.

It would be like popping a squat and dropping a steamy load in your own car’s backseat. Over and over again. Then the one day you drive somewhere and you can’t figure out where that rancid smell is coming from. Problem is, the Earth isn’t yet a “car” that we can replace. So, it’s more like being locked in said car. And having your life support systems tied in with it’s operation.

Can’t we all agree to just shit out the windows? Please?

Friends with benefits

According to the Scientific American I am reading, we are not only covered in germs, but filled with them too. In fact, the germs on and in our bodies outnumber our very own cells, ten-to-one. This means that of all the cells that make you up, only 10% of them are “you”.

What I wanna know is WHO’S REALLY IN CONTROL?

If you think about it, you are not you—or rather the you you are is plural rather than singular. This point would be harder hitting perhaps in another language. In English, you is both singular and plural (except in New Jersey).

But, then again, maybe that’s the actual point. You are an ecosystem, a cellular social network, a “microbiome”. Just you and your bugs.

What’s really funny about this are germ-o-phobes. You know, the people who open doors with napkins and wear not only rubber gloves but also condoms when masturbating. You see them around, clutching their anti-bacterial spray bottles, doing all they can to build up the resistance of generally harmless household bacteria so that they will one day rise up kill us all.

Thanks a lot, dorks. How about not being so swayed by advertising for once?

I like the idea, though, of me being a lot of mes, billions of mes, and of not being an island, a separate thing from the incorrectly termed Outside World. How DID Mitt Romney get so obscenely rich? Here we have an excellent description of so-called “private equity partnerships”.

Robert Reich Explains How Mitt Romney Got Obscenely Rich

White noise (and it’s similar staticy counterparts, pink noise and brown noise) is a fantastic way to block out background noise and distraction. Here’s my favorite white-noise provider, SimpleNoise.com. It’s beautifully simple and does exactly what it claims.

My favorite is brown noise. The only problem is just how relaxed it makes me… it’s a bit dangerous for work, as I might fall asleep at any moment :)

You use Linux everyday, whether you know it or not.

Google, Twitter, Facebook, and Amazon are all powered by Linux.

Just watch the first 30-45 seconds. It makes me feel like both Windows and Mac are “cute” by comparison. You know, like, “How adorable! Their little OS is just precious! Maybe it’ll grow up big and strong some day.”

This is pretty cool stuff. Our current executive administration seriously understands the younger generation. If we’re confused or overwhelmed by something, we often won’t pay any attention to it at all - this extends to voting and voter registration/laws.

Here’s a site that will help you get your vote when the time comes. I know I’ll be using it. Thanks, Mr. President! :)

Kansas City’s GST Steel was a successful company that had been making steel rods for 105 years when Mitt Romney and his partners took control in 1993. They cut corners and extracted profit from the business at every turn, placing it deeply in debt. When the company eventually declared bankruptcy, workers were denied their full pensions and health insurance, and the federal government was forced to step in and bail out the pension fund.

It’s totally gone too far when you’ve been building Ikea furniture for so many days in a row that you begin to make ridiculous, fringe-insane inside jokes about your new furniture (or their interesting Swedish names) and expect other people to find it funny.

Nicknameless: “I hope that they are open.”

By the way, “Hopen” is the name of our new bedroom dresser.

Honestly, are you trying to…

This is pretty close…my view on religion AND science. There’s no reason

It warms my heart to know there are others out there that don’t find the ideas mutually exclusive. The two (science and any spirituality) don’t even separate in my thought processes. Neither invalidates the other.
